Please join us in congratulating Karen Below (KB) – our Manahautū Ora / Senior Cultural Advisor – who has stepped into the role of Acting General Manager at Birthcare Auckland!
With whakapapa to Te Arawa | Ngāti Whakaue | Ngāti Rangiwewehi, KB brings powerful leadership grounded in tikanga Māori, deep clinical expertise, and a lifelong commitment to whānau-centred, culturally safe care.
Her mahi at Evolution Healthcare has already helped shape Te Korowai Oranga, our cultural strategy that ensures care honours the beliefs, practices, and values of all communities. Now, in her new role at Birthcare, KB will continue to weave these principles into everyday practice – empowering our kaimahi and uplifting the experience of every hapū māmā and pēpi who come through our doors.
A clinical specialist in Occupational Therapy, Traumatic Brain Injuries, and Rongoā Māori, KB’s leadership is a true reflection of manaakitanga, mātauranga, and mana.
Ngā mihi nui ki a koe, KB – your journey inspires us all.
