How soon can I transfer?
Even if you birth your baby at another hospital in Auckland or Northland, you can still transfer to Birthcare for your postnatal stay.
If you have had a vaginal birth and are well, you can usually expect to transfer to Birthcare within 3-5 hours after your birth.
If you’ve had a caesarean section, your transfer may take a little longer, usually around 24 hours, depending on your recovery. Once you’re ready the hospital team will contact Birthcare to arrange your transfer.
