At Birthcare Auckland we are here to provide you with excellent 24 hour care and support for you and your baby.
We aim to make your birth experience the best that it can be and offer flexible choices so you can decide what suits you best.
Birthing at Birthcare is free to New Zealand residents and women eligible for free maternity care in New Zealand.
If you birth at Birthcare Auckland you’ll be given a private room wherever possible. If you choose to have your baby at another hospital, you can still transfer to us for your postnatal stay.
We welcome all women wanting to transfer to Birthcare following a hospital birth, including those who have had caesarean sections. Find out more by clicking the button below.
Planning to birth at Birthcare reduces your risk of interventions such as caesarean section, forceps or ventouse (vacuum) delivery and episiotomy.
Women who have a vaginal birth without intervention usually experience a rapid recovery with less pain and discomfort. Please discuss this with your LMC.
Birthcare is a primary birthing and postnatal hospital and there are no obstetricians or operating theatres on site. We encourage an active birth (moving and changing positions) as well as the use of other complementary therapies. Aromatherapy diffusers (feel free to bring your oils), birthing couches, bean bags and swiss balls are available for you to use. Please speak with your LMC midwife if you have had a previous caesarean section.
